Freemasons from Gooch Lodge welcomed representatives of Swindon Women’s Aid to the Swindon Masonic Centre at The Planks in Old Town where they were presented with a cheque for £1,000.

The Master of each of the nine Lodges, which meet in Swindon, select a charity to support in their year in office. And for 2016 John Sturgeon nominated Swindon Women’s Aid.

Charity Steward Paul Moffatt said “Swindon Freemasons are pleased to support such a well deserving cause, we know just how much funds are needed to provide help to not only the women who suffer but also their children who are often the forgotten victims of domestic abuse”

Olwen Kelly from Swindon Women’s Aid said: “We are grateful to Swindon Freemasons for their long term support of the work we do in the town.”
