Police officers are appealing to the public for help following an attempted robbery in Victoria Road, Swindon.

Between 1am and 1.20am on November 5, three men approached the victim – a man in his 30s – outside Machine Mart.

The men, who all had their hoods up and scarves over their faces, were aggressive towards the man and demanded he hand over personal possessions.

The victim ran off down the hill but the men chased him and attempted to steal his backpack. They were unsuccessful, and ran off back up Victoria Road and turned left onto Dumbarton Terrace.

Two males, aged 17 and 22, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and have since been released under investigation.

Enquiries to identify the third man involved are ongoing. A CCTV image of a man investigators would like to speak to is attached.

Anyone who was in Victoria Road at the time, or anyone who may have been driving past who may have dash cam footage which could assist should contact officers.

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190109918.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
