Families across Swindon are being urged to mark Sunday 26 November in their diaries as the date when Old Town will officially switch on its Christmas lights.

The Old Town Business Association (OTBA) is gearing up for a spectacular stage show featuring entertainment and stalls before the big switch on, which will see Wood Street and beyond transformed into a twinkling wonderland.

Details of the stage line-up and full range of activities are still being finalised, but will be released in the coming weeks.

Co-organiser and OTBA member, Alex Pollock, said: “Old Town’s Christmas lights switch on has got better each year, and we are working hard to make sure 2017 is the best show yet!

“We aim to showcase entertainment and acts for the whole family to enjoy, kick-starting everyone’s Christmas spirit.

“We’ve lots planned throughout the day - many business will be open for trade, as well as having stalls along Wood Street. There’ll be plenty of surprises and loads of new features this year.”

The OTBA are working with local businesses, artists, the Central Swindon South Parish Council, and a number of sponsors to deliver another fantastic show. The festivities will start from 1pm, with the big switch on currently scheduled for 5pm.
