Comedian Jon Courtney's personal new musical and comedy show 'Bigger' comes to Wantage.
Comedian and musician Jon Courtney won the hearts of the nation during 2020's series of Britain's Got Talent with his funny and moving musical medleys and now brings his latest show to Wantage.
'Bigger' is Jon's latest national tour kicking off in Feburary 2024, coming to Wantage in March, and is described as a show of two halves. Act One involves a littany of new songs and stories performed by Jon at the piano, witch topics ranging from every chocolate bar ever to feuds and family.
The second half combines fan-favourite songs featured in his Britain's Got Talent performances with brand-new material to create an all-new one-man comedy musical adapted from his critically-acclaimed 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival show which tells a deeply personal story.
Unbeknownst to the public and the judges at the time, Jon had been diagnosed with a potentially fatal skin cancer during his time on Britain's Got Talent. After winning the show and performing on the Royal Variety Performance, Jon was told that the cancer had not spread. However, the worst was yet to come.
Just a few weeks later, cancer was discovered in Jon's lymph nodes, requiring a greulling seven-hour operation. Thankfully, treatments and unwavering support from his family set Jon on the road to recovery and in April 2022, he finally received the all-clear.
Jon is now dedicated to raising awareness of this disease and is a proud ambassador of the skin cancer charity Skcin, the melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer chairty involved in early detection and prevention of the world's most common cancer.
Catch Jon Courtney in his show show 'Bigger' at The Beacon in Wantage on Saturday 23 March.
