New Wichelstowe homes set for launch

House hunters in Swindon will have their first opportunity to reserve a new home at Canalside on Saturday 24 May.

That is the day when David Wilson Homes South West will release a range of three and four-bedroom properties at the Wichelstowe development.

Located by the newly-restored Wilts & Berks Canal, Canalside features 113 new homes and is the latest addition to the thriving Wichelstowe community. 

Designed with modern living in mind, every property at Canalside will have access to EV charging. Homes will be eligible with the Key worker Deposit Contribution or schemes such as Part Exchange Xtra for existing homeowners – with David Wilson Homes South West covering estate agent fees and even stepping in as the buyer if the home doesn’t sell. 

Customers registered for updates will be the first to hear when prices are released.

The developer says the first phase of Canalside proved especially popular with first-time buyers, with more than 75 percent of homes going to those taking their first step on the ladder. One and two-bedroom apartments will be released for sale in the coming weeks.

Three and four-bedroom homes will be available to reserve without an appointment from 10am to 5.30pm on Saturday 24 May via the Orchards Rise development. Here, the former three and four-bedroom show homes are now available to reserve and include landscaped gardens, fitted wardrobes, light fittings, window dressings with up to £23,900 of upgrades included.

Canalside is just a five-minute walk from Wichelstowe’s district centre, which includes a bar/restaurant, supermarket and secondary school. For those needing to travel further afield, Swindon station is only three miles away, with direct services to London Paddington in under an hour.

The Wichelstowe development is being built by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in partnership with Swindon Borough Council which will deliver 3,000 new homes along with new schools and community facilities over 20 years. The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
