The Wyvern Theatre’s Summer Youth Project is well underway and as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s opening night approaches, four of the cast members took a trip to the wonderful Sweets Galore in the Brunel Shopping Centre to practice their sweet tasting ahead of the show.

Archie Fisher (Caractacus Potts), Amy Gordon (Truly Scrumptious), Ben Brindle (Jeremy) and Mollie Avenell (Jemima) transformed into their much loved counterparts amid a bright display of confectionary.

Archie, 17, who takes up the role of Caractacus Potts, famously played by Dick Van Dyke in the famous 1968 film adaptation, said, “This is my third Summer Youth Project and it’s been brilliant returning to this family. It’s a genuine joy and pleasure to be working with everyone from the creative team and other parts of the Wyvern staff and chaperones and I am loving every minute of it”.

Around 140 aspiring young performers and technicians are working alongside a highly skilled creative team, culminating in five performances of a full-scale musical. Applications for next year’s Summer Youth Project will open after Christmas, with youngsters encouraged to come along to a performance of Chitty for a taste of what they can expect next year.

Featuring all the unforgettable songs, including ‘Toot Sweets’, ‘Me Ol' Bamboo’ and ‘Hushabye Mountain’, not to mention the magical moment where Chitty really does take to the skies, this production promises summer holiday fun for the whole family!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang runs at the Wyvern Theatre from Thu 22 - Sat 24 August. Book tickets today at swindontheatres.co.uk or by calling the Ticket Office on 01793 524 481.
