Thousands flocked to this year's Classic Ibiza event at Bowood House this month, including two people who wished to make it a weekend to remember.

Classic Ibiza returned to Bowood House on Friday, 22 July and Saturday, 23 July, serving up a taste of the fabled White Isle in the heart of Wiltshire.

Saturday saw Classic Ibiza’s largest-ever Bowood audience of over 6,700, with the Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) leading the crowd on a four-hour journey of the very-best in Balearic-infused sounds.

Saturday was said to have been made even more remarkable by an impromptu marriage proposal, with Fliss Goodwin and Leon Briggs from Llanelli taking centre stage.

Classic Ibiza’s Lisa Ward said: “We’ve had some unusual audience requests in the past, but an on-stage marriage proposal has to be up there. Our Bowood audience always bring an extra-special vibe to the show, we just weren’t expecting that. Our congratulations go to the happy couple, I’m already thinking about what to wear for the wedding!”

Fliss Gordon added: “Thank you Classic Ibiza for making a once in a lifetime experience even more memorable. I guess it’s a good job I said yes!”

The show started at 6.30pm with a “Chill-Out Set” by DJ Jose Luis. The DJ set was described as a laid-back mix of Afro/Latin beats. The former Pacha Ibiza resident DJ was said to have got the crowd in the mood as they settled into the family-friendly atmosphere.

USO took to the stage at 8pm for the “San Miguel Sundowner Set”, reinventing a host of iconic dance tracks, including Killer (Adamski), Sun Is Shining (Funkstar De Luxe vs. Bob Marley), For An Angel (Paul van Dyk) and Red Alert (Basement Jaxx).

Goldierocks (Friday) and Miss Mavrik (Saturday) took control of the decks at 9pm, with a “House DJ Set” of up-tempo house classics.

Then, as night fell and Bowood’s grounds transformed into an alfresco nightclub, USO returned for the “Dance Set”. Accompanied by a laser and light show, the evening built to a crescendo to house classics, including Galvanize (The Chemical Brothers), Waiting All Night (Rudimental), Push The Feeling On (Nightcrawlers), Toca’s Miracle (Fragma) and God Is A DJ (Faithless).

A spokesperson for the event added: "With the crowd chanting for more, USO finished the evening off with a high-octane encore of three Classic Ibiza favourites: Firestarter (The Prodigy), Set You Free (N-Trance) and Sandstorm (Darude). Over 35 tracks were performed by USO on the evening, including 15 completely new orchestrations."

Classic Ibiza at Bowood House says it is proud to support The JGM Trust Fund, set up in the memory of Joshua Gareth Moon.

Joshua was a member of their crew who lost his battle with mental health illness earlier this year. Various fundraising events took place on the evening, including a £2.50 donation from every programme sold.

Classic Ibiza will return to Bowood House on Saturday, 22 July 2023.
