The popular Highworth with Shrivenham and North Swindon community Good Afternoon Choirs welcome Spotlight as their special concert guests at St Paul’s Church on Saturday 24 July.
The Highworth with Shrivenham and North Swindon Good Afternoon Choirs are led by Sarah Summers and are busy preparing their programme for the concert with a retiring collection for Prospect Hospice, who care for local people and their families at the most difficult times in their lives.
The Good Afternoon Choirs were started by Bath-based music man Grenville Jones, originally from Swindon, 17 years ago, and there are now 30 across the South West of England, South Wales and London, with over 1,400 members ‘Singing in the Afternoon’.
If you are interested in becoming a member, there are no auditions to join and your first rehearsal is free, and you can come alone or with a friend.
Highworth with Shrivenham Good Afternoon Choir meet every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm-3pm at Highworth Community Centre, and North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir meet every Thursday from 1pm-3pm at St John’s Haydon Wick Church.
Everyone is welcome to come along to meet Sarah and the members of the choir, where the emphasis is on singing and having fun. You can find out more at www.goodafternoonchoir.org
Special guest for the concert will be the wonderful Spotlight, an all inclusive performing arts group which started almost nine years ago.
Tickets are priced £10 in advance from https://gac.ticketlight.co.uk/ or on the door (cash/cheque only) with a retiring collection for Prospect Hospice.
Grenville, the Choir Founder, said: “This will be a wonderful concert for our choir members. It will be a great evening for the Choirs who very much look forward to welcoming Spotlight to entertain you.”
The concert will be at St Paul's Church in Covingham on Saturday 24 July at 7.30pm - doors open at 7pm.
