Local artist Hannah Dosanjh has written and illustrated a new book and is inviting people to come and meet her and get a signed copy.
Swindon people can come along and meet author, illustrator and Wroughton Library Trustee Hannah Dosanjh at a book signing event at Swindon Central Library.
Hannah's new children's book ‘How Bright Ideas Built a Railway Town’ is all about the Great Western Railway and how it put Swindon on the map. She has written the story, and illustrated it herself.
The book is written in rhyme, and features two special dogs, Isambark Kingdog Brunel and Sir Spaniel Gooch who feature on every page.
The exclusive launch event will include a reading by Hannah, some live sketching, and competitions too.
Her books will be available for purchase on the day for £9.99, and then from Swindon Central Library, Wroughton Community Library or via Hannah’s website www.HannahDosanjh.co.uk afterwards.
A spokesperson for the artist said: "In the run up to Christmas, why not buy a few copies, spread the word about Swindon’s heritage and support a local artist too. Hannah will of course be happy to sign books and include a personal dedication too.
"As well as being a talented writer you can find out more on the day about Hannah’s involvement with local schools and creating a new mural at the Mechanics Institute as part of a community art project."
Hannah is also the artist behind one of the painted Swindog sculptures that will be dotted around Swindon next summer. Hers will be displayed in Swindon Library. The Swindog sculpture trail aims to bring art to the Swindon streets, and raise money for children's hospice, Julia's House.
