Swindon Deputy Mayor Gayle Cook officially opened new Turkish restaurant Lux in Godwin Court yesterday.
Promising quality Turkish cuisine in a friendly authentic sophisicated atmosphere, Lux is the newest entrant to the Swindon restaurant scene.
The new eaterie held its official launch yesterday with VIP invitees wowed by a spread of its delicious food and a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Deputy Mayor.
Lux is run by General Manager Halil Pashaoglulari and is owned by a partnership of Turkish businessmen from Swindon.
Halil said: "We saw there was a niche in the Swindon restaurant scene for authentic high quality Turkish food. There are a lot of kebab shops in the town but nowhere serving restaurant quality food.
"We are very proud of what we've achieved here. We have had people coming from Bristol and Oxford to try us out and eveyone has gone home very happy.
"All of our ingredients are sourced from authentic suppliers and our chef is from one of the kebab capitals of Türkiye and is passionate about what we are serving which is Anatolian cuisine.
"It's not like a fast food place as our menu items include meals like authentic Turkish lamb kleftiko and slow-cooked stews, as well as mezzes.
"Our vision is to bring authentic Turkish dining to Swindon through carefully prepared dishes, premium ingredients, elegant presentation, and a warm atmosphere designed for both families and couples.
"From charcoal grilled meats to traditional recipes served with a contemporary touch, every detail at LUX is built around quality, flavour, and experience.
"We believe great dining is not only about food, but it is also about atmosphere, service, and creating moments people remember.
"For a lot of people it will be their first taste of Turkish food outside of the fast-food based kebab market and they will soon see that this is totally different."
House specials at the restaurant include Kusbasili Alinazik, which is char-grilled aubergines with garlic and yoghurt, topped with succulent lamb cubes, and Tavuk Sarma Beyti, minced chicken with garlic & herbs, wrapped in bread with cheese, butter and tomato sauce, served with yoghurt, as well as a host of other delicacies.
Lux is open seven evenings a week and you can reserve a table by calling 01793 575565 or visiting the website at luxswindon.com
