Award-winning political comedian and satirist Matt Forde will bring his brand-new stand-up show Defying Calamity to Swindon Arts Centre on Friday 24 April.

The date is part of his biggest tour yet.
A spokesperson said: "Known for his razor-sharp political satire, pitch-perfect impressions and quick-fire stand-up, Matt Forde has become one of the UK’s leading voices in comedy and politics.
"His new show explores finding positivity in life despite all the evidence to the contrary in politics and his own health.
"The tour follows the huge success of his critically acclaimed End of an Era show, which was one of the best-reviewed shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe."
Matt Forde is widely recognised for his work across television, radio and podcasting. He writes and voices characters for the iconic satirical show Spitting Image and is a regular guest on Have I Got News For You, Question Time and Mock The Week.
He also hosts the hugely successful The Political Party podcast, which has amassed more than 11m downloads and features candid interviews with major political figures including Keir Starmer, Nicola Sturgeon, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
After enduring what he thought was sciatica during the 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Matt was diagnosed with cancer. A few weeks later he was having the base of his spine removed. Since learning to walk again, Matt returned to work on his Political Party, British Scandal and Down The Dog podcasts, alongside hosting Absolute Radio’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Football Show.
His final challenge was returning to the stage with The End of An Era Tour, which was the best-reviewed show at last year’s Fringe out of 1,638 performances before embarking on a successful nationwide tour.
