A super experience of music and sounds is promised in Swindon on Wednesday 19 August at the MECA.
The UK Beatbox Championships & Festival of Vocal Arts will present their ‘Summer Jam’ event. A spokesperson said: "Bringing together the UK's and World's most prestigious beatboxers and vocal-artists for a free live music meet, like you have never seen or heard(!) before.
"It’s absolutely free entry to everyone to come and watch or even get involved in more ways than one!"
There will be a full-day programme for all ages to participate in. Starting at noon there will be a free one-hour, Kids and Family Workshop with World Beatbox Champions and world leaders in beatbox and vocal arts education The Beatbox Collective, who have taught over 1m people in the UK how to beatbox.
The spokesperson said: "This workshop welcomes all ages and abilities. Simply turn up with yourself, your voice and your imagination."
From 5pm The Beatbox Collective will deliver another one-hour workshop built around choirs and singers. This will teach a new vocal skill and how to incorporate Beatboxing into their repertoire to deliver some truly anthemic music with a kick! Full choirs and individuals alike are welcome.
To re-imagine music, there will be an open mic session 6pm-7.30pm, welcoming musicians (one instrument at a time) and singers to join and remix their music live on the spot with the backing of a formidable force of beatboxers - like a mini vocal orchestra - to elevate their sound and create instant content.
The evening from 7.30pm-9pm will feature live performances from the UK's legends and pioneers of beatboxing and vocal-arts.
The PeteBox (as seen on ITV's The Voice), the World Beatbox Champions ‘The Beatbox Collective’, plus a few special guests including UK Champion Beatboxer ‘Frosty’ from Swindon, plan to put on a show for Swindon to remember.
The entire event is free entry, funded by Arts Council England, the UK Government and supported by Youth Music.
Rupert Oldridge, CEO of UKBC, World Champion Beatboxer and Music Educator, said: “My favourite feedback is always from people who have never been to an event like this, every performer and collaboration absolutely blows your mind.
"It’s all about enjoying the experience, creating outstanding music and memories, there’s something for everyone, all human created and no AI!”
Project Leader and Co-Organiser Gina Akers from BLENDID Artists said: “We wanted to create an event for everyone who’s involved in and interested in music.
"Beatboxing and beatbox related vocal-arts are the most accessible and inclusive form of music making.
"We want to give people opportunities to collab and create content too in a welcoming environment, plus experience some awesome performances from incredible world level music artists.
"We’re excited to bring this to Swindon as a free event to help make music open to everyone.”
Summer Jam welcomes everyone into its friendly and very inclusive musical community (all under-18s must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian over the age of 21, maximum four under-18s for every one parent/guardian and Pparent/guardian will need to provide legal ID).
