The Medical Lotions and Potions brewing event will take place this Friday.

On Friday 29 October, Lydiard House will offer families the opportunity to try concocting their own witches or wizards brew.
In the 17th century, Lady Johanna St. John of Lydiard House made poultices and potions from herbs and plants known for their healing properties.
During the session, children will be able to dress up in a lab coat, and create their very own potion to take home.
Members of the public will also have the opportunity to handle medical artefacts from the past, including a plague mask.

The Medical Lotions and Potions sessions will last approximately 30 minutes.

To reserve a space, an email must be sent to with the preferred session time.

The session times available are: 10:30am, 11:30am, 2:00pm or 3:00pm.

Lydiard House Museum is open on Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays, from 11am to 4pm (last admission 3.30pm).

Tickets can be purchased from the House on the day. Combined admission for Lydiard House and Walled Garden costs £7.25 for an adult and £4.00 for a child, with free admission for under 3s.

Tickets for the House only, and family tickets are also available.

Parking charges for Lydiard also apply.
