Swindon College's Catering Department hosted the Rotary Club of Swindon North and Thamesdown’s annual Student Chef Competition this month.
And to the entrants’ surprise there was a special appearance by the renowned chef Marco Pierre White.
The event aimed to motivate and encourage young chefs in their chosen career, providing them with valuable experience in cooking under time constraints and presenting their dishes.
This, The Rotary Club's 14th annual Competition, showcased the culinary talents of Level 3 students in their final year at the college, with 11 students competing to create a three-course meal featuring a plant-based starter.
The competition was judged by a panel of four esteemed judges, including development chefs from the college's vegetable and fruit suppliers and Wadworth’s Brewery, as well as Rotary Club President Steve Davison and Treasurer, Chris Ockwell.
After a thorough judging process, the top three students were announced and awarded top-quality chefs’ knives and sharpeners for their exceptional culinary creations. The winners were: 1st Place, Godfrey De Andrade; 2nd Place, Sara Williamson; and 3rd Place, Theo Bignold.
Marco Pierre White's presence added a touch of prestige to the event, as he tasted the food and interacted with the contestants, inspiring them to pursue excellence in their culinary careers.
