This weekend saw the start of what looks set to become an incredibly popular monthly event in the Town, the Orbital monthly market.
Taking place on the last weekend of every month, the Orbital market, hosted by popular local bakery, 'Sugar Shack', was a roaring success.
The Orbital Retail Park in North Swindon is already an incredibly popular shopping destination in the town due to its close proximity to the motorway, wide variety of shops and free parking. The new monthly market increased the footfall dramatically this weekend.
The market is set up on the land just across from the recently refurbished steps above the North Swindon Library. A variery of bright and colourful stalls were arranged in a large circle around the site.
The air was filled with the delicious aroma of freshly baked goods and hearty barbecued treats. Crowds gathered around the stalls, with queues forming in order to purchase one of the many fantastic goods on offer.
Vendors included the award winning Helen Browning's, Pippin and Co, Brighter Senses, Sweets In Time, Tuga Pastries and Kotinos Foods.
The response to the market from the Swindon community has been very positive.
On shopper said: "I came over this morning and the whole area was buzzing!
"Well done Sugar Shack and all involved in bringing such a happy vibe to the Orbital."
Another said: "A good market is something that has been missing in Swindon for a long time, this is good to hear."
The event will run from 10am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday, on the last weekend of each month.
