Festive family fun with Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra

Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra have announced this year's Christmas Concert for Saturday, 17 December.

Starting at 7pm in St. Bartholomew’s and All Saints Church, the concert will include a wide range of well-known Christmas music, such as Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and Christmas Waltz, Mozart’s Sleigh Ride, Christmas at the Movies and Fanny Mendelssohn’s Prayer on Christmas.
Children from local primary schools will also be performing. There will be singalong carols and mulled wine and mince pies will be served in the interval.

The Christmas concert will be the culmination of the orchestra’s 40th Anniver [Anchor] sary Celebrations, and follows our special 40th Anniversary Concert in October.

The music chosen highlighted the orchestra’s versatility with favourites from each decade of the orchestra’s history.

The orchestra will be performing in Malmesbury Abbey on April 22, 2023. The concert will feature English composers notably Parry’s Symphony 3, The English and local soloist, Sara Stagg, performing a work by Vaughan Williams.

Nicola Ashton, RWBO’s Musical Director said: “RWBO has a fantastic future ahead. The orchestra is back to full strength after the pandemic and we're looking forward to exciting times over the next year. 

"We have plans to run workshops, to build exciting programmes with a mix of genres, styles and challenges - and most importantly, to keep enjoying our music making together.
