Old Town's newest restaurant Pick Up Point opens its doors to hungry Swindonians this evening for the first time.

Devizes Road's Pick Up Point is the brainchild of renowned professionally trained Swindon chef Josh West, 46, who has built up quite a name for himself over the last few years by running a pop-up kitchen under the same name at The Hop Inn.

On the restaurant's website he said: "I wanted to bring great food, and I mean really great food, to Swindon so here we are."

The team behind the restaurant have been preparing all week for the opening and last night held a special VIP night where patrons were given a taster of what foods and drinks were to come.

The chic interior design oozes urban cool with neon signs streaking across reclaimed wood panelling adding to the fresh and affable atmosphere of the restaurant.

The tastebud-tingling menu includes mouthwatering flat iron steak, buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, Korean chicken wings, jamon croquetas plus inventive vegetarian options. And that's just to name a few.

One of the things that Josh West has become known for is his ability to put together the best burgers around and the new restaurant will not disappoint with delights such as the Seoul Survivor, a chicken burger dripping with Korean sauce accompanied by Kimchi slaw and The Orange Sunshine, an aged beef burger with double cheese and Josh's signature special sauce.

The Pick Up Point is also not short-changing the people of Swindon when it comes to drinks with barrel aged negronis and popcorn old fashioneds sitting alongside cherry coke cuba libres and margaritas.

And it's all reasonably priced giving people good quality food that definitely won't break the bank.
