The Swindon Open Studios Pop-Up Gallery at The Designer Outlet opened to a delighted audience.
Visitors enjoyed the treat of seeing original art and ceramics beautifully hung and curated by the artists themselves.
The Pop-Up runs until Sunday18 February and the organisers say it should not be missed. It is a new initiative for community group Swindon Open Studios whose main event runs during the last two weeks of September each year.
The artists celebrated with a launch event with invited guests including the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for South Swindon, Heidi Alexander, who enjoyed the exhibition so much that she bought a painting.
She said: “What an honour it is to be here for this launch, because it is fantastic and the work is beautiful.”
The exhibition space is located between M&S and Clarks and is described as a great opportunity to meet the artists who are in the shop each day.
There are six artists featured in February’s Pop-Up, which is just a small selection from the 2023 Swindon Open Studios participating artists. It features five painters and a ceramicist, all with a variety of styles to suit all tastes.
These artists are Sheryll Fox, Charlotte Abraham, Sholeh Jafari, Helen Savin, Andi Theokle and Mary Thorne. More information about them and their work can be found on the Open Studios website: www.swindonopenstudios.org
This year’s artists will open their studios over the weekends of 21 and 22 and 28 and 29 September. Any artist wishing to take part, or visitors who would like to know more, can sign up for the newsletter on the homepage of the website for more information.
