The team at Museum and Art Swindon welcome donations of items to help celebrate Swindon's proud contribution to musical history.
Curators are putting together a new permanent collection to celebrate Swindon’s popular music culture, which will go on display in the new galleries, when Museum & Art Swindon opens its doors at the Civic Offices.
The museum’s staff are keen to hear from people who would like to donate material relating to some of the concerts held at McIlroys Ballroom, The Brunel Rooms, Locarno, Oasis or any other music venue in Swindon since the Second World War.
A spokesperson said: "Did you see Roger Daltrey and The Who at McIlroys Ballroom? Or perhaps Thin Lizzy or The Jam at The Brunel Rooms? If so our team at Museum & Art Swindon want to hear from you.
"This could include programmes, ticket stubs, t-shirts or posters marking the time when bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Status Quo performed in the town."
They are also particularly interested in material related to Swindon-based bands, most notably XTC.
The spokesperson added: "If you are interested in donating items to the museum, then email the team [email protected]. Please send details of the objects you're considering donating, along with photos of the items."
