Swindon Recital Series is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate classical music in films and ‘classic’ film music.

The 'main characters' will be drama, comedy and romance, prizewinning talent and Oscar winning composers, all reflecting the glamour of film from silent to Bollywood.
On Sunday 17 September at the Arts Centre from 7.30pm, Andrea Tweedale, soprano, and pianist Paul Turner will begin the season with a red carpet event featuring Andrea’s beautifully warm tones and star quality.
Her programme will showcase Strauss’ Four Last Songs as well as music from ‘A late quartet’, ‘Call me by your name’, ‘Driving Miss Daisy’, ‘A room with a view’ and ‘Diva’.
On Wednesday 23 September from 1.05pm at the Wyvern Theatre, clarinettist Chris Gibbons and pianist Paul Turner will appear.
A series spokesperson said: "Chris makes a welcome return with an immersive and eclectic programme of music from ‘Amadeus’ and ‘The Terminal’, alongside the likes of ‘Cinema Paradiso’ and ‘Ladies in Lavendar’.
"Also find out who was the first classical composer to write for silent film…"
At the Arts Centre standard tickets are £20.50 and Seniors £17.50 (both including a theatre levy of £1.50); student (age 15-18) £3.50 (no levy); accompanied children aged 14 and under admitted free. A transaction fee of up to £3.95 may apply, whether the transaction is for one or several tickets.
