All are welcome to join the Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra for an uplifting and relaxing evening capturing the essence of summer.

Serenade to Summer, on July 12, 7.30pm in the Sixth Form Centre of RWB Academy, SN4 7HG, is guaranteed to put everybody in holiday mood.

The concert features an orchestral showcase of music from well-known classics, film, musicals and pop

A spokesperson said: "Get your feet tapping to Grease and the Latin rhythms of Conga del Fuego, sing along with the Sound of Music medley and songs from your summer playlist – Mr Blue Sky and Walking on Sunshine.

"Highlights include well-known classics such as Bizet’s Carmen and the Intermezzo from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana.

"Members of the orchestra feature as soloists in Bruch’s Concerto for Clarinet, Viola and orchestra. Bruch is known for his violin concerto but this less played work is a beautiful romantic showcase for two of the most mellow and rich instruments in the orchestra.

"Also included in the programme is a trumpet solo in a clever arrangement of What a Wonderful World. We do hope you will join us."

RWBO is a well-established orchestra which, under the guidance of Musical Director Nicola Ashton, performs at least three concerts a year.

The last concert, A Tale of Two Cities, held in March in Malmesbury Abbey, and featuring Alexander Harris playing the Richard Strauss Horn Concerto, was a sell-out success.

For Serenade to Summer, wine and chilled soft drinks will be served in the interval. Tickets are £10 for adults, under 16’s go free, and details can be found at www.rwbo.org.uk
