A family Santa experience opens its doors at Cotswold Water Park on Saturday, 12 December.

The personalised experience at the South Cerney venue is part of ongoing special event The Gateway to Christmas.

Launched on 4 December, The Gateway to Christmas was created by award-winning local events companies Relish Group and Robert Lawrence Event Production Resource.

Rob Goves, Director at Relish Group said: “It has been a very difficult time for our industry and as we all know, we’re stronger together.
"We believe there’s something for everyone at The Gateway to Christmas and we hope that families and visitors will support this event and make some special memories with us along the way.”

The Santa Experience will offer families the opportunity to meet Santa within their bubbles across a 10-minute socially-distanced session, which includes a personalised story-time, the chance to take photos and videos together and a visit to Santa’s Christmas Tree, where presents will be individually labelled for each child, to take home and enjoy.

The experience will be available from 12 to 23 December.

Rob Smith, Director at Robert Lawrence EPR said: “Creating immersive environments is at the heart of what we do.

"Our aim was to adapt and create an experience that was safe within tier two guidance, whilst also allowing us the opportunity to grow the event in years to come.”

Visitors can enjoy free parking and access to the site, where they’ll find a Christmas Market featuring marshmallow firepits, doughnuts, cheeses, hand-made fudge, hog roasts and more, as well as rides including a helter-skelter and traditional carousel.

As the sun sets, the organisers say, the grounds will come to life daily with a variety of LED lighting and a 19-metre festive projection installation.

For those looking to relish in more foodie delights, The Gateway Café has been transformed into an enchanted fairy space, serving up delicious treats like wood fired pizza - gluten free and vegan choices will be available - and grilled free-range turkey burgers topped with bacon jam, stuffing and chestnut pickles.

A fully licensed bar will open until 9pm daily, with covered, warm outdoor seating for all who choose to visit the event until 24 December.

The Traditional Christmas Tree Company will also be selling the classic Nordmann Fir - the UK’s most popular tree thanks to its symmetrical shape, strong bushy branches and excellent needle retention.

Heights range from 4ft9ins to 6ft8ins, and trees can be delivered.
