A star constellation and a 24-metre-long Christmas Cathedral await visitors to the National Trust’s Palladian house and garden at Stourhead this year.

The Christmas festivities will run from 25 November - 1 January 2023.

The family-friendly festive trail, which is choreographed to the sound of Christmas music, will be lit each night by 150 flame candles, and multiple artworks by UK and international artists installed along the route.

A spokesperson for the event said: "Some of the key highlights of the trail include a moving star scape projected along 25 metres of the route; a tree wrapped with 700 metres of tiny silver pea lights; a projection of leaves, flowers and Christmas themes by NOVAK onto the trunks of three of the garden’s trees; and 240 red poppy flowers dangling in the trees and overhead.

"Outstanding in the iconic Stourhead landscape will be the Sea of Light installation by creative lighting designers Ithaca Studio. Spreading over 1,700 square metres, this inspiring LED light feature will make for a perfect photo spot.

"Christmas at Stourhead provides a special way to celebrate the festive season with an unmissable outdoor experience. The trail is designed for visitors of all ages and is accessible for all to enjoy."

Visitors will be able to experience the aforementioned light installations and wave hello to Father Christmas along the way.

Independent street food vendors will also be in attendance, offering their different menus. Visitors will also be able to purchase a spiced winter warmer or a hot chocolate. There will also be an artisan marshmallow stall.

Christmas at Stourhead is brought to the public by Sony Music in partnership with the National Trust. The trail is created by Culture Creative.
