Thousands celebrate community spirit at Stratton Festival

The much-loved community event was held at Grange Leisure and Community Centre. 
The festival, organised by Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, featured live music, community groups, family entertainment, craft stalls, food vendors and activities for all ages, highlighting the vibrant spirit of Stratton St Margaret.
Lower Stratton borough and parish councillor Marco Di Pinto said the event was a powerful reminder of the strength and identity of the local community.
He added: "The Stratton Festival is the biggest community event of the year in Stratton St Margaret, and the fact that it took place in Lower Stratton made it especially meaningful for me as one of the councillors representing the area.
"Although Stratton is now considered an urban ward within Swindon, events like this play a vital role in strengthening our shared identity as residents of Stratton St Margaret. 
"They bring people together, celebrate what makes our community unique, and help maintain the strong local connections that have always been at the heart of Stratton."
Cllr Di Pinto said one of the highlights of the day was meeting residents face to face, including some whom he had previously assisted through council casework.
"I was delighted to speak with so many residents throughout the day," he added. "In some cases, I was able to meet in person people I had previously helped with local issues. 
"Those conversations reinforce why local representation matters and remind me how important it is to remain visible, approachable and engaged with the community we serve."
The festival showcased the wide variety of organisations, businesses and volunteers who contribute to life in Stratton St Margaret. 
Attractions included more than 70 stalls, a vehicle showcase, live performances, family entertainment, camels and activities designed to bring together residents of all ages.
Cllr Di Pinto also paid tribute to the staff, officers and volunteers who helped make the event such a success: "A huge thank you must go to the staff and officers of Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, the sponsors as well as the many volunteers and participants who worked so hard to organise such a fantastic day. 
"Welcoming around 5,000 attendees is a remarkable achievement and demonstrates the tremendous community spirit that exists across Stratton St Margaret."
Reflecting on his role as both a borough and parish Councillor, he added: "Representing Lower Stratton St Margaret at both borough and parish level is a privilege that I never take for granted. 
"As someone who lives in the community I represent, I care deeply about our area and the people who call it home. Events like the Stratton Festival remind me why I became involved in local government: to serve the community and help make Stratton an even better place to live."
