This weekend Swindon will see a festive double bill with the Christmas lights switch-on events at Lydiard Park and the town centre.
The Lydiard Park lights switch-on takes place Friday (29 Nov) from 4.30pm outside Lydiard House Museum.
Visitors to the free event will be treated to a performance by the Aldbourne Brass Band as they perform Christmas favourites against the backdrop of Lydiard House before the 60-metre tree is illuminated. Festive treats and drinks will also be available to buy throughout the event.
The town centre Christmas lights switch-on takes place the following day (Saturday 30 Nov) from 3.30pm next to The Cenotaph.
There will be performances by Swindon Dance, the Salvation Army and Rhythmix Goa, all hosted by the local community radio station Swindon 105.5. There will even be a special appearance by Father Christmas himself.
Following the switch-on, children are encouraged to bring their Christmas letters and take part in a lantern parade, arriving at the The Brunel Swindon, where they will be able to post their letters.
