Lions firework display set to be an unmissable event

Swindon Lions Club will be holding their annual fireworks show on Saturday 2 November at the Polo Ground, Marlborough Road.

In addition to the Fireworks display, there will also be Edwards Funfair, BBC Wiltshire and James Threlfall Refreshment Stalls, which will sell a range of foods. To speed up payment, the funfair and caterers are asking for customers to use cash.

Entry will be by tickets purchased in advance only. Tickets can either be purchased from the One Stop Shop, Guildford Avenue, Lawns or on-line at : https://swindonlions.org/fireworks/ with a booking fee added.

The net proceeds from the fireworks display will be used by the Lions Club for charitable causes.

The gates will open and the funfair will start from 5.00pm. The firework display begins at 6.45pm promptly.

Access to the Polo Ground will only be from Marlborough Road (close to the Windsor Road mini-roundabout) and Downs View Road. Please note that this year there will be no access to the Polo Ground from Carlton Gate/Broome Manor or from Coate Water.

Adults (over 16s) £10, Child (aged 5 to 15*) £5, Family (max 2 adults and 3 paying children) £25.00.

*Please note that children aged 4 and under are free and do not need paper tickets, but free on-line tickets are available for children aged 4 and under.

There is a FREE Park and Ride at Nationwide Car Park, Pipers Way, SN3 1TA. Please allow a MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES to travel on the FREE Park and Ride double decker bus from the Nationwide Car Park to the Polo Ground.

The fireworks display will start promptly at 6.45pm. No parking will be permitted in Downs View Road.

Disabled Access Arrangements can be made for those who need disabled access. Please email Lion Richard on [email protected]. Car access will only be given to cars displaying the disabled badge and cars need to arrive at the Marlborough Road entrance before 4.45pm.

Cars will not be able to leave the Polo Ground before the mass of pedestrian traffic has eased which is expected to be around 7.30pm.

The Lions Club of Swindon reserve the right to refuse vehicular entrance to any vehicle in the case of poor ground conditions.

The Fireworks display is held to raise funds for the Swindon Lions so that the club is able to respond to requests for assistance. The club has supported the following causes over the last year: community causes £13,490, welfare/social care £4,100, other overseas appeals (disaster relief) £850, youth £690, community causes including local groups such as Swindon Food Collective, Wiltshire Tree House, Dressability, Tiny but Mighty, Open Door and Julia's House Hospice.

No sparklers, fireworks or alcohol are to be brought onto the Polo Ground by members of the public. The club also ask that the public do not bring animals to the event.
