It will be held on Thursday 2 September at 7:30pm, at the Western Community Centre on Somerset Road, Rodbourne

A spokesperson for SPS said: "We are a mix from complete newcomers to experts with interests in any kind of photography. It is this mix that makes the club work and thrive.

"The enjoyment of photography is at the heart of what we do."

September's society events will include the viewing of lots of images and exchanging of ideas, the viewing of prints from a national competition, a talk by photographer Bob Bishop, a competition with three other camera clubs and two club competitions.

The society can also be contacted for Zoom meeting details if preferred.

SPS are offering a trial period costing scheme for new members that will mean trying the society out for £5 for up to three nights. This payment will then be deducted from the annual membership fee if the individual stays on and joins the society fully.

Full annual membership costs £50, £45 for concessions and £32 for under 18s.

The society says that after 1 January, rates will be reduced on a pro-rata basis.

The Swindon Photographic Society membership includes:

- Seven talks from visiting speakers

- Five friendly battle competitions with other camera clubs

- Three international salons

- Twelve visiting photographic judges

- Seven club nights of various formats

- Seventeen competitions for digital and print entries

- Special interest groups organising additional activities

- 45 meetings (including the society's 'Summer programme')

An SPS spokesperson says: "We are about the enjoyment of photography for anyone wishing to become a member a member, and we do mean anyone, 18 to 80, novice or expert, all are welcome.

"Of course meeting in person is better but without Zoom we would not have had speakers talking to us live from many places including France and Namibia. At the moment the new season in September will start back meeting live and on Zoom where possible."

Membership email enquiries can be sent to [email protected]

Ticket requests for virtual acces to the Welcome Night can be sent to [email protected]k
