Swindon Welcomes Ukraine is presenting a special live concert by Ukrainian singer Igor Grohotsky.
The concert will be taking place at Christ Church in Old Town on Saturday 21 June at 7pm, with 50 percent of profits going directly to Ukrainian aid charities supporting civilians and survivors of recent missile attacks in Kyiv.
Best known as the winner of The Voice Ukraine, the singer is returning to Swindon following his headline performance at UkraineFest 2024, where he made a connection with some of the 480 Ukrainians now living in Swindon.
This upcoming concert will be his first full solo performance in the town.
He said: “I’m truly honoured to return to Swindon. The welcome I received last year was unforgettable, the people, the energy, the feeling of unity. This time, it means even more.
"To be able to sing for the people of Swindon and, at the same time, raise money for vital aid in Kyiv, that’s powerful. Music connects us, but action unites us. I sing not just for entertainment, but for hope.”
Igor shot to fame on the Ukrainian version of hit TV show ‘The Voice’ and was the 2014 winner of the show.
The concert will feature a mix of english hits, Ukrainian favourites, and some original songs, including his own song “Be With Me”, which went viral and has amassed over 14 million views on YouTube.
Anastasiia Banatska Chair of Swindon Welcomes Ukraine, said: “Grohotsky's talent is undeniable, but it’s the way he connects with people that really matters.
“This concert isn’t just entertainment, it’s about coming together in support of those still living through this war. The money raised will go to trusted aid groups helping people directly on the ground in Kyiv, where attacks are still taking place.”
The venue, the organisers say, provides a perfect backdrop for what will be a moving evening. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the performance beginning at 7pm. Tickets are priced at £10, with half of all profits being sent to verified humanitarian organisations working with survivors of recent attacks in Ukraine’s capital.
