Windrush Girl by Paula B Stanic, will be visiting the Swindon Arts Centre tomorrow as part of its production tour.
The show will take place on Saturday 26 November at 5.30pm.
A spokesperson describes the plot: "Come and meet our main character, Norma June. When 12-year-old Norma receives a ticket to join her mother in England, she has to leave her father, her best friend and the Jamaica she loves.
"After the Empire Windrush's long sea voyage, Norma's adventure abroad isn't quite what she imagined. She finds herself sharing a bed with her mother and a toilet with the rest of the lodging house! Though Norma makes some special friends at her new school, she slowly notices that one teacher seems to pick on her more than the other children.
"Using inspiration from real-life stories, award-winning writer Paul B Stanic gifts Norma June with the mix of imagination and bravery to survive the stormiest of voyages!"
Phoenix Edwards will star in the performance. Her other roles include Rose Granger-Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The show will run for 50 minutes, with a Q&A session to follow afterwards.
Tickets for the show are priced at £2, £6, or £11 depening on the audience member's age, and which 'pay what you can' option they choose. They can be purchased online at https://swindontheatres.co.uk/Online/tickets-windrush-girl-swindon-2022
Some tickets have been subsidised by the Windrush Foundation, and complimentary tickets for community or school groups can be arranged.
