South Swindon Parish Council has announced the opening of a new youth club at the Badbury Park Community Hub, scheduled to launch in September 2025.

At the meeting of Full Council on Tuesday 22 April, South Swindon Parish Councillors resolved that the Badbury Park Community Hub will be the location of the parish council’s third youth club.

This initiative follows the successful establishment of youth clubs across the parish, including the recently opened Eastcott Youth Club at Eastcott Community Centre in January 2025, which has already attracted over 20 young members. The council also operates a youth club in Park North at St John’s Church on Whitbourne Avenue, which has been running for the past two years.

The Parish Council is actively seeking input from local children and young people to help shape the new Badbury Park Youth Club. This input will inform the programming, activities, and overall design of the club to ensure it meets the specific needs and interests of the Badbury Park community.

The new youth club represents a key milestone in delivering the Parish Council's Youth Strategy, which was agreed in October 2024. The strategy outlines several important objectives:

· Consulting young people about their priorities for youth services provision in South Swindon.

· Offering more outdoor activities for young people, including street art, gardening, and sports.

· Establishing additional work experience and trainee opportunities within the Parish Council.

· Creating more youth events to engage with local young people.

Registration details and further information will be announced as plans develop. If anyone is interested in volunteering at the new Badbury Park Youth Club, or wish to sign up their child early, contact [email protected].

Cllr Sam James, Chair of the Youth Working Party, said: “We’re thrilled to expand our youth provision to Badbury Park. The positive impact of our existing youth clubs has demonstrated the clear need for these spaces where young people can gather, make new friends, socialise, and most importantly, have fun.”
