Neil Rutter and Niel Dunnage, riders from the local Cotswold Veldrijden cycle racing team, competed with great success at the British Masters National Track Championships on Saturday.

Art teacher Neil Rutter, claimed his first national title, after a extremely tactical race, winning the 30-34 age group Scratch Race in a sprint finish. During the race, Neil marked last years winner, before perfectly timing his win towards the finish. He went on to win two further bronze medals over the weekend. Niel Dunnage rode in an aggressive 45-50 age group race, and initiated his winning move midway through, persevering throughout to collect his first national medal, a bronze.

The two riders look forward to using their experiences in the races, to further inspire the clubs younger members. Neil Rutter will be coaching at the Swindon Old Town Festival at the weekend. Aspiring young riders are encouraged to come along, and improve their cycling ability. The event runs from 11am-4pm, entry is free.
