Mark Dempsey has been selected as the Labour Candidate for the North Swindon Constituency.
Mark Dempsey stood as the Labour Candidate in the 2015 General Election for North Swindon and is also the Labour Councillor for Penhill & Upper Stratton. Mark also works as a Sustainabilty Manager and lives in North Swindon.
Speaking after being selected as the Labour Candidate for North Swindon, Mark said: “I am delighted to have been selected to be Labour’s candidate for North Swindon at the General Election.
"I live in North Swindon, I am a local Councillor and I work as a Sustainability Manager.
"As a local resident I believe that Swindon is a town with huge potential. I am ambitious for Swindon and as a local Councillor I have worked positively to try and build a better future for our town – pressing for speedier progress on the regeneration of our town centre, campaigning for a higher school standards and a University for Swindon; and standing up for our residents when they need help and a strong local voice. I am proud to have helped resolve the Averies Waste Crisis and to have stopped waste being dumped at the Groundwell Park & Ride.
"That is the kind of MP that I would be: championing Swindon, providing a strong local voice for residents and working hard to help transform our town.
"As a local resident and local Councillor I can see that Swindon needs a Labour Government to stand up for the many and not the privileged few – and enable us to build a better future for our town.
"We also need to ensure that as Britain leaves the EU, we get the best possible deal for our major employers such as Honda and BMW and for the 10,000 jobs in our town that depend on EU trade – ensuring they can continue to trade with the EU free of tariffs and other barriers. A good deal with the EU, is a vital deal for Swindon.
"That’s why we need a Labour Government; and why I am proud to be Labour’s candidate.”
