A new community acupuncture clinic - believed to be the first of its kind in the Wiltshire - has opened in Christ Church Community Centre, Swindon.

The clinic, run by The Community Acupuncture Team, is based upon a multi-bed system that allows the practitioner to treat more than one person at a time.

Multi-bed acupuncture clinics run in other parts of the UK, but what makes The Community Acupuncture Team’s approach unique is that it collects patient information prior to the session.

The team say this means less time is needed on the day for consultation, so more people can be seen at each clinic session.

The aim of the approach is to keep this valuable treatment affordable, making it more accessible to Swindon residents.

The Community Acupuncture Team say that seeing an acupuncturist at a private clinic can cost about £45 per session, but under their new approach it costs from £17 per session.

The team's multi-bed clinic - which sees up to 4 people an hour - runs every Tuesday evening from 3.45pm - 6pm.

Joe Jennings, practitioner at The Community Acupuncture Team, said: "For years now, I have been practicing acupuncture and have seen time and time again how life changing it can be for a wide range of health conditions.

"However, I have always felt uneasy that acupuncture was too costly and inaccessible for too many people. This new system means acupuncture is affordable for and open to everyone."

Zuzana Bohanna, 47, resident of Oxfordshire, was treated by The Community Acupuncture Team, and said: “I started to have a pain in my hip and 'tennis elbow' due to extensive computer work and lot of driving, so Joe got to work on it.

"I must say that The Community Acupuncture Team is a 'one stop shop', they treats the body as a whole unit and not just the problem itself. It works, and it makes you feel like new.

"I have also persuaded my husband to go to them and now both of us are their clients and cannot recommend them enough. They are a well of knowledge and will do everything to help you."

The Community Acupuncture team say they are experienced in treating aches and pain, headaches and migraine, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive issues, women’s health issues and more.

Joe Jennings has been practicing acupuncture for over a decade. He founded The Community Acupuncture Team, whose clinics have been operating in Oxford for five years.

The Community Acupuncture Team say health organisations across the world recommend acupuncture for a wide range of conditions, including The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), The American College of Physicians and The World Health Organisation.
