The Healthier Advertising Policy introduced by Swindon Borough Council in June of last year is to be extended.
The policy, the council says, ensures that food and drink advertising on council-owned spaces aligns with public health goals by limiting promotions of products high in fat, sugar, and salt.
Currently, the policy applies to roundabouts and lampposts, but it is now being extended to all council-owned bus shelters with advertising space.
A spokesperson said: "Advertising decisions will be guided by the Nutrient Profile Model, a well-established tool that fairly assesses the nutritional value of products.
"By shaping our public spaces, we’re making it easier for people to make informed choices, without taking options away."
