The police warn that road users on the M4, A419 and around Swindon may experience some additional delays.

The convoy - the latest in a series which began last week - is due to enter Wiltshire at Junction 18 of the M4 at about 10.45am, exit at Junction 15 and pass on to the A419 before travelling northbound towards the Rat Trap.

It will exit at the Rat Trap and travel along Highworth Road, Hobley Drive and then Swindon Road before arriving at BMW on Swindon Road.

Each of the two loads will be up to 4.9m - about 16ft - wide. One will weigh in at 110 tonnes and the other 125 tonnes.

Due to both width and weight, the load will be slow moving and have the potential to cause congestion at junctions and also within Swindon.

Oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the convoy to pass.

Wherever possible, the police say, disruption will be kept to a minimum, although both hauliers and motorists are asked to be patient should they come across the convoy.

Anyone travelling during this period on time-critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey.

A police escort is being paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
