South Swindon Parish Council has announced that the Buckhurst Play Area is open and all the fencing has been removed.
The park is now more inclusive and accessible for those with disabilities or special educational needs. There are new swings, a sensory play board, a zipline, hurricane swing and more.
The pathways around the play area have also been widened and improved.
A council spokesperson said: "This is the first step in a wider programme of improvement works at Buckhurst Field, which aims to regenerate the area into a hub for recreational and sporting activities.
"Work has already taken place to improve the drainage of the football pitches, which junior football club Swindon Robins will call home from September.
"The next step is to resurface the Shrewsbury Road car park and redevelop the changing rooms into a sporting pavilion."
