The Arkell’s Outdoor Christmas Market is back this Saturday, with plenty of festive stalls, carols and an appearance from Santa.

The event will run on Saturday 10 December, from 10am - 2pm at the Kingsdown Brewery.

The market, held in the grounds of Arkell’s historic Victorian steam brewery is already said to be a key part of the festive calendar for many Swindon people.

The event will also provide individuals with the unique opportunity to get inside the gates of the historic local site, whilst browsing for gifts for loved ones.

The Arkells team say over 40 local and regional food and craftspeople will be selling their wares including jewellery, cakes, fudge, candles, chutneys and pet treats - providing something to cater for every member of the family.

Events Co-Ordinator, Lesley Dicks said: “So many people wonder what is beyond the brewery gates and this is a perfect opportunity to come and see this notorious building in the town – it’s a magical place at Christmas, the tree is up and the site is always full of a buzz and joy on the day of the market.

"When we hear that the children and their families have had such a lovely time, we invariably do it all over again, so please come and see us all on Saturday.”

Shoppers will also be treated to the joyful singing of local choir ‘The Songbirds’, as well as music from ‘The Oompah Band’.

Additionally, traders will be found selling treats such as bratwurst sausages, pizza and Greek food, along with hand-warming drinks, mulled wine, and Arkell’s seasonal favourite, Sir Noel Ale.

Santa will be making an appearance from 10.30am-12pm and 1.00pm-2.00pm. No booking is required, just the payment on the day of £5 per child (which includes a gift). Children wila also be able to stop and see Santa's reindeer too.

Alex Arkell said: “We love having the opportunity to welcome our local community through the gates of the brewery. It’s wonderful to see everyone getting into the festive spirit in the run up to Christmas.”

Admission to the market is free and parking on site is available, although limited, so walking is encouraged by the Arkells team if individuals are able to.

The Stagecoach number 10 bus also runs from Swindon Town Centre to Kingsdown.

The Arkells team added that unfortunately The Grape & Grain Wine and Brewery Warehouse Shop does not open at weekends, and will not be open whilst the Christmas Market event is on.
