Attempted murder arrest following Swindon incident

Swindon Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Thames Avenue yesterday morning - 4 May.

Officers were called in at about 9.15am.

A man in his 20s was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with life-threatening head injuries, and remains there.

Another man in his 20s was arrested this morning - 5 May - and taken to Gablecross Police Station, where he remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Joe Saunders said: “We know this incident would have caused concern in the local community yesterday but we’d like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident.

“While enquiries are still at an early stage, we believe those involved were known to each other and we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.

“Our enquiries will continue and there will be a police presence in this area throughout the day, so please don’t be alarmed by this.

“Anyone who saw or heard the incident or has any information that could assist officers with their investigations is urged to contact us.”
