A drug driver from Swindon has been banned from the roads for three years following two separate incidents.
Carey-Anne Wheeler, 48, of Ixworth Close, Shaw, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 29 June, charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood and drug driving.
The first incident happened in Trowbridge in January, when officers stopped Wheeler’s van due to the way in which she was driving.
A roadside drug test was positive for cocaine, so she was taken to custody and a further blood test showed the presence of Benzoylecgonine, which is a cocaine breakdown product.
While awaiting summons to court for that case, Wheeler was arrested in Granville Street car park in Swindon on Monday, 28 June.
Once again, officers stopped her in her van and conducted a roadside drug swipe which was positive for cocaine.
Once she was in custody she refused to provide a sample of blood.
On the following day she pleaded guilty to both offences and was disqualified from driving for three years. She was also ordered to pay a fine of £240.
PC Paul Bezzant, from the Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “We all know that driving while under the influence of drink or drugs seriously impacts your ability to drive and increases the risk of you being involved in a collision which could injure or kill someone.
“We will continue to work hard to make our roads as safe as possible, which includes apprehending offenders and ensuring they face justice.”
