Members of the public are invited to attend the GWH charity's family fun day event to raise money for the hospital's Dove Unit patient garden.
The fun day event will be held on Sunday 6 August, at the Coleview Community Centre, between 12 - 5pm.
Funds from the day will be going towards supporting GWH's Dove Unit's garden for cancer patients.
Staff member Nicky Knightly explains: "Dove Unit is a specialist ward providing inpatient care to cancer patients. The unit cares for individuals requiring intensive chemotherapy, stem cell transplants and treatment of neutropenic sepsis.
"Those admitted to Dove Unit are generally inpatients for many weeks or even several months. Due to the depletion in their immune system patients are isolated and discouraged from mixing with the general public.
"This is challenging both physically and mentally and the aim is to provide a secure outdoor space for patients to use. A court yard has been successfully identified however, this needs extensive renovation in order to transform it into a safe and inviting garden.
"Fundraising is underway with a staggering £5,580 raised in November and a further £455 in December 2023. But we still have a long way to go.
"This garden will make a significant difference to so many patients."
Businesses wanting to attend the event, and perhaps support Brighter Futures with a raffle prize, can do so by contacting Hayley at [email protected] for more information.
