Last week, local MP Robert Buckland visited Home Instead Senior Care Swindon and Vale of White Horse, a CQC ‘Outstanding’ rated home care company, to find out how care is being delivered in the local community.

During the visit, Jill Kirk, owner of Home Instead, and Robert also discussed some of the challenges in attracting people to the care sector and how Home Instead is very different to other home care providers.

Also in attendance was local man Roy, who has lived with dementia for 20 years. Roy benefits from the Memory Cafe at Wyvern Theatre which is sponsored by Home Instead in Swindon. He discussed with Robert that the cafe allows him to meet like-minded people in a social setting whilst getting advice from support workers and volunteers.

Jill said, “It was fantastic to welcome Mr Buckland to our office. We pride ourselves on doing things differently here. We make sure that our staff share common interests with the people they support and we equip members of the wider community to support seniors in their day-to-day lives, through dementia awareness training and other educational activities.”

“I’m grateful to our local MP for taking such an active interest in the way that community services are being delivered in Swindon and the surrounding areas.”

Robert Buckland also commented, "It was to meet such a dedicated team of caregivers who are committed to their work, and also to raise awareness of dementia and other conditions that touch most of us."

Home Instead Senior Care is an award winning home care company, which provides services tailored to the needs of individual clients. The service is flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
