The move will allow The Care Forum and its team to continue their work within the community as an independent champion for people who use health and social care services.

Its contract comes after the independent voluntary and community sector organisation’s success in helping residents navigate health and social care during the pandemic.

The Care Forum is an independent voluntary and community sector infrastructure organisation, managing a number of contracts primarily across Swindon, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Care forum acting chief executive Kevin Peltonen-Messenger said: “The renewal of the Healthwatch Swindon contract is excellent news for both our employees and service users.

"The team have performed fantastic work in the last five years. Our contract renewal will allow them to continue to develop the relationships they have forged with the community groups and health and social care services in Swindon.

“We look forward to sharing our new projects in the near future.”

The exception to The Care Forum’s renewal is the advocacy service which has transferred to VoiceAbility along with Healthwatch Swindon Independent NHS Complaint advocate, Jim Hogg.

VoiceAbility is an independent charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy and involvement services.

Both parties are in discussion to ensure a smooth transition of the advocacy service and its users to the newly appointed organisation.
