A Swindon fitness teacher is encouraging women across the town to break the silence around menopause.
Claire, who runs LYFE, offering Pilates and fitness classes alongside aesthetics and wellbeing services, has been using her social media platforms to share her own experiences and raise awareness of the impact menopause can have on women’s physical health, confidence and everyday lives.
Her campaign aims to encourage more women to recognise the signs of menopause, feel less alone in their experiences and understand the importance of movement, community and open conversations during this stage of life.
As part of the campaign, Claire has organised dedicated menopause-themed Pilates events, bringing women together dressed in purple to share experiences, open up about their symptoms and start conversations that are too often left unspoken.
The events have been warmly received, with women getting involved, sharing their stories and helping to spread the message that menopause should not be something women have to navigate alone.
Claire’s campaign is about more than physical health. Recognising that menopause and ageing can affect how women feel about their appearance and self-esteem, she has also hosted a makeup event for members of her LYFE community.
Claire said: “I really wanted to do this campaign because I see so many women coming into my classes who have struggled with menopause or are going through it themselves, and I think it’s really important that we all talk about it.
“When women come together, these conversations naturally happen, but I wanted to shine a real light on menopause, raise awareness and create opportunities for women to share their experiences in a supportive environment.
“The makeup event was a brilliant example of this. I had women messaging me afterwards to tell me how amazing they felt, and that was so rewarding.
"Sometimes it’s the little things that can make such a huge difference to someone’s confidence.
“I’m also incredibly grateful to the women who have been brave enough to share their experiences on video. Hearing from other women who understand what you’re going through can be so powerful.
"It’s about knowing what symptoms to look out for, realising you’re not alone and feeling able to talk about it.
“The campaign has already led to some lovely moments. When I was visiting local businesses to spread the word, two women at Sugar Shack bakery actually came over to tell me they’d seen my content and were going through menopause themselves. It really brought home why this matters.
“I want women to know that there is support out there, that they can keep moving in a way that feels right for them, and that they don’t have to lose their confidence or sense of self during menopause.
"I’d love to keep building on this campaign and get even more women talking.”
Alongside the events and social media campaign, Claire has been taking the message into the local community, visiting businesses across Swindon and distributing flyers to encourage more women to get moving and discover the benefits of her classes.
Through her work with LYFE, Claire hopes to continue reaching women across Swindon, encouraging them to speak openly about menopause, prioritise their wellbeing and find supportive communities where they can feel stronger, more confident and less alone.
