Swindon Neighbourhood officers have successfully gained a partial closure order for an address in Liden following evidence of a vulnerable family at the address having being cuckooed by London based drug dealers.
Following the arrest of an 18-year-old London man for drug supply offences on March 11, a partial closure order was sought for the address in Arnfield Moor.
On Friday, this was granted by Swindon Magistrates. The order, which will remain in place for up to three months, has been put in place to safeguard the occupants. It means that anyone other than the resident named on the order, is prevented from entering the property. By doing so, they could be committing an offence and may be arrested.
Insp Barry Reed, of North/East and Rural Swindon Neighbourhood Police team, said: “Closure orders of this nature enable us to protect the residents, and prevent drug gangs entering the property and exploiting vulnerable people.
“This order will remain in place for three months – during this time we will continue to check on the address and work with Swindon Borough Council to combat the exploitation of vulnerable people.
"Our Community Policing Teams continue to target drug activity in our communities and with the public’s vigilance we are having positive results. This is the tenth closure order to be granted this year in Swindon and they are extremely effective way of preventing crime associated with an address, as well as protecting the residents who are often vulnerable to being cuckooed."
