Swindon Borough Council's next leader will be elected at the Annual Council Meeting on Friday 22 May.
The meeting comes in the wake of the recent local elections, in which no party won the 29 seats needed for an absolute borough council majority.
The Conservatives won 23 seats, former majority party Labour 19, Reform UK 14 and the Liberal Democrats one.
The local authority's political groups are currently discussing future governance arrangements, and a council spokesperson said formal decisions would be made at the meeting on Friday, which will begin at 2.30pm.
The meeting agenda includes:
- The election of the Leader of the Council
- The appointment of Cabinet Members and confirmation of their portfolio responsibilities
- Committee memberships
The public gallery in the Council Chamber at the Civic Offices in Euclid Street will be open for members of the public who would like to attend. The public can also watch the meeting live online at www.youtube.com/@SBCPublicMeetings/streams
