Two new Swindon Borough Council Cabinet appointments have been announced by the Conservative administration.
Cllr Rob Jandy, who represents Stratton St Margaret, has been given the Culture, Heritage, Leisure and Town Centre Experience portfolio.
This is apparently a partially amended version of the regeneration, culture and heritage role held by Covingham and Dorcan councillor Dale Heenen until his resignation last week.
He had been embroiled in a row over the future of the Museum and Art Gallery, and made comments which saw him rebuked on social media by former council deputy leader Russell Holland.
Cllr Jandy formerly held the Corporate Excellence portfolio, which has now been given to Cllr Vinay Manro, who represents Priory Vale.
Cllr David Renard, Leader of Swindon Council said: “I am delighted to be able to give Vinay his opportunity to come on to Cabinet and use his experience and expertise for the benefit of our residents and the council.
"He has been really effective in his previous roles and will bring new perspectives and ideas to our work.
"Rob has led the council’s drive to become an effective and efficient council but also has a broad range of experience in many areas including the cultural sector.
"He is ideally placed to take on this agenda as we emerge from the covid lockdown and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role."
