Tragic news from GWH as two covid deaths announced

The latest report from NHS England has revealed two covid-19 deaths reported at Great Western Hospital. It is the first such announcement in 43 days. One person died on Friday, 14 August and the other on Monday, 17 August. This means the coronavirus death toll at Great Western Hospital since the outbreak began now stands at 127. These figures are correct up to 4pm yesterday.

As of 4pm today there have been nine new confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the last 24 hours in Swindon, meaning the total has risen to 1,146 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. In the last seven days there have been 99 new confirmed cases in Swindon. In Wiltshire there has been one new case in the past 24 hours, meaning the number of people who have tested positive in Wiltshire is 1,357. This means that in the last seven days there have been 27 new confirmed cases in Wiltshire. These figures are split by local authority. Please note that these new cases are the figures reported by Public Health England and do not take into account delays in the return of positive test results.

As of 9am on 19 August, 321,098 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. This is a rise of 812 positive tests in the last 24 hours.

As of 5pm on 18 August, of those tested positive for coronavirus in the UK who died within 28 days of their test, 41,397 have died across all settings. This is an increase of 16 since the day before.
