October 21 Update: A further 313 Swindon covid cases as national total rises by more than 50,000

The latest report from NHS England has revealed that no further deaths from covid have been reported at Great Western Hospital. It has been two days since the last such death was reported. This means the coronavirus death toll at Great Western Hospital since the start of the outbreak remains at 358. These figures are correct up to 4pm yesterday.

According to the data released today at 4pm, there were 313 new confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the previous 24 hours in Swindon, meaning the total rose to 26,117 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. In the previous seven days there were 2,469 new confirmed cases in Swindon. In Wiltshire there had been 663 new cases in the previous 24 hours, meaning the number of people who had tested positive in Wiltshire was 47,595. This meant that in the previous seven days there had been been 4,529 new confirmed cases in Wiltshire. 

All figures are split by local authority. Please note that new cases are the figures reported by Public Health England and do not take into account delays in the return of positive test results.
 

As of 9am on 21 October, 8,641,221 people had tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. This was a rise of 52,009 positive tests in the past 24 hours.

As of 5pm on 19 October, of those tested positive for coronavirus in the UK who died within 28 days of their test, 139,146 had died across all settings. This was an increase of 115.
