Swindon Police are appealing for information following a distraction burglary in the town.

A spokesperson said: "Between approximately 5.15pm and 5.30pm on May 9, a resident in Overbook, Eldene, disturbed a man in her hallway. The man claimed to be working on a house nearby and needed to check the water pressure.

"He asked the resident to go to the kitchen to run some water whilst he checked pipes, and after doing so, the man said he would return in a few hours. After he left, the resident noticed money had been stolen from her purse.

"We are keen to speak to anyone with information in relation to this picture, as well as any residents in the area who may have been visited by the man in similar circumstances.

"If you can help, please call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240053400.

"Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
