Swindon & Gloucestershire Mind (S&G Mind) is partnering with the borough council and Business West to host a free event called Inclusive & Resilient Workplaces: Supporting LGBTQ+ & Neurodiversity.

It will be held on Wednesday 4 June from 9.30am at the Workshed in Swindon's Railway Village.

This event is open to all employers in Swindon and the surrounding areas, offering a valuable opportunity to learn how to cultivate a healthier, more resilient, and truly inclusive workforce.

Recent research, the organisers say, suggests that teams with neurodivergent professionals in some roles can be 30 percent more productive than those without them, and different ways of thinking can increase innovation.

Part of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network series, the event promises the chance to explore the theme of neurodiversity in the workplace and gain insights from neurodivergent professionals and leading employers who champion inclusive practices.

Yazmin Taylor, Service Lead for Business and Training at S&G Mind, said“We are thrilled to announce the next Swindon Mindful Employer Network event, focusing on the critical aspects of inclusivity and resilience

"This is a unique opportunity for local businesses to gain expert knowledge and real-world insights on how to better support the LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent employees.

"Our expert speakers will provide invaluable guidance that can truly benefit any organisation.

"We warmly encourage all HR professionals, business leaders, line managers and anyone passionate about building inclusive, mentally healthy workplaces to join us in this vital conversation.

"This collaborative effort with Swindon Borough Council and Business West underscores our shared commitment to fostering a supportive and thriving local business community.’’

Cllr Jim Robbins, Leader of Swindon Borough Council, said: “Creating inclusive and resilient workplaces is the right thing to do. We’re proud to support this important event, which will help employers across Swindon embrace the value of diversity and make practical changes that benefit both their teams and their organisations.

“Building a Fairer Swindon starts in our workplaces, and this is a brilliant opportunity for local employers to be part of that journey.”

Those who attend will:

- Discover how to create workplace environments where every employee can thrive

- Learn practical strategies to support LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals within your organisation

Connect with forward-thinking professionals across Swindon and Wiltshire

Whether a person leads a small business or manages a team within a larger organisation, the event promises actionable insights to foster a more understanding, supportive and ultimately more productive workplace.
